Lots of children give plastic bottle lids to Lids4Kids to be recycled. Lids4Kids volunteers sort them into color categories as a group. The colored lids are divided into 3 groups before being poured into a big machine that mulches them into small flakes. Another machine melts the flakes and extrudes them into a metal mold in the shape of slats for a bench. Volunteers then use carpentry tools to build a colorful bench.

"Don’t be silly! With me around, nothing bad will happen. Come on!" 3. After much persuasion, Sammy reluctantly agreed. Together, they set off through the forest, Benny leading the way with big leaps and Sammy scurrying close behind. As they approached the Tall Pines, the forest grew darker, and the air cooler. Sammy’s heart thudded. 4. suddenly, there came a rustling sound from the bushes. A pair of glowing eyes appeared, followed by a low growl. It was a fox! 5. Benny froze for a moment, his bravery flickering. "Run, Sammy!" he yelled. But Sammy, though trembling, remembered something his mother had taught him: "Foxes don’t like being outsmarted." 6. Taking a deep breath, Sammy darted up a nearby tree, grabbing a loose branch with his tiny paws. He shook it with all his might, causing acorns to rain down on the fox. "Go away!" Sammy squeaked as acorns pelted the fox. Startled and annoyed, the fox yelped and ran off into the shadows. 7. Benny stared up at Sammy in amazement. "Sammy! You were incredible!" Sammy climbed down, his tail puffed up with pride. "I... I just did what I had to do." 8. When they finally reached the hidden meadow, it was even more beautiful than Benny had described, filled with colorful flowers and sweet berries. As they shared the feast, Benny grinned.

Mina is a half Korean and Half Vietnamese girl who is learning about the Vu Lan Festival that is celebrated on June 15th. She sees her parents setting up an altar and preparing food and learns to make a sweet rice cake with her mother. She is told that the festival is meant to honor parents and ancestors with offerings made at home and at the Vietnamese temple. Her family visits a temple and prays. Afterwards, they light and hang a paper lantern on a tree. The next day the family packs up old clothes and toys to give to their local Vietnamese charity. Mina is happy to remember her ancestors and help others, looking forward to doing it again next year
