It was a crisp October day, I woke up to the other dogs whining as the shelter workers let us all out of our kennels. Yes! Freedom! I ran so fast to the playroom to play with my friends! Today was going to be a big day - I can feel it! I played for hours and hours, until I had to have a nap. After lunch I saw two humans walk in and sit on the floor. Everyone crowded around them, jumping on them. Get yourself together guys I thought. I quietly walked over and sat by the mans huge feet. I knew the drill, people visited us all the time and had a few cuddles. As I sat watching the commotion of Simba getting silly all over this ladies lap. I met eyes with the lady human, she immediately picked me up. My legs were dangling and I thought jeez lady I just had breakfast. I stared into her and she stared back, she said "its you, your the one." I said to myself ok lady, do you have food or a ball? The lady stood up and talked with a shelter worker, she came back and said "I'm going to be your new Mom" and I thought "Mom?." She said she would be back, she came back with a new collar and name tag with the name "Koda."

She hiked with her cousins, laughing all day, Splashing in streams, enjoying their play. 5) At night in Peja, under stars that gleamed, They ate flija (a special dish), just like she dreamed! With family and laughter, the night felt right, Besa was happy in the soft, calm night. 6) Next was Prizren, with streets made of stone, Where history and charm are clearly shown. They climbed the castle, so high in the air, Besa looked down, feeling love everywhere. 7) Then came the day she’d waited so long, To visit Gjilan, where she felt so strong. It is the place where her family is from, A town that always made her heart hum. 8) At Vali Ranch, the horses stood high, Besa chose one with a gleam in their eye. She rode with joy, feeling the breeze, Laughing and smiling, completely at ease. 9) She visited her familja (family) with hugs so tight, In Gjilan, everything felt just right. They shared stories, laughter, and love, Besa knew she was blessed from above. 10) Her summer in Kosova soon would end, But she knew in her heart, she’d come back again. From Rugova’s peaks to Prizren’s old town, And Gjilan’s warmth that never let her down. 11) Back to America, she flew through the skies, With stories of love, joy, and bright eyes. Besa smiled as the plane took flight, Kosova stayed in her dreams each night.

Tuffy was a great dog. he was actually part of the family. Every evening when we ate, he was always sitting beside the table waiting on his portion of the food. He was our friend and adventurer. He would go with Rusty every day and deliver newspapers and always walk Rusty and Lisha to the bus stop. When the bus came home, he came running to walk with us back home. Everyone in the neighborhood loved Tuffy. He would go to the Wertz's house and they would give him snacks. He did this all over the neighborhood. As they grew, they would visit their grandma, but less and less as there families grew. But they never forget and they always have their secret enchanted key to jump through the tree door anytime they wish. One day many years from now, they too will join their grandma for the magical adventures that await them beyond the tree door.
