This is a story about a girl named ALIF who loved painting. She had a cat named Mittens who would always sit beside her while she painted. One day, ALIF decided to paint a picture of Mittens. She started painting and soon got lost in her work. Mittens, who was watching her, got curious and jumped onto the canvas. ALIF was surprised but then she got an idea. She started painting Mittens into the picture. From that day on, ALIF started painting pictures of Mittens in all sorts of different settings. She painted Mittens in a garden, on a beach, and even in space! ALIF’s paintings became so famous that people from all over the world started asking her to paint pictures of their pets. ALIF and Mittens were very happy. They spent their days painting and playing together. And whenever ALIF painted a picture of Mittens, she would always include him in the painting.

One morning, Lina’s parents took her to the market. In the center of the square, they stopped in front of a big red dragon statue. The dragon sparkled in the sunlight, and Lina was curious.“What’s this, Papa?” she asked. “It’s part of the Lunar New Year celebration,” father said. “It’s a special time to welcome the new year with family, food, and traditions. Oh! We almost forgot—it’s tomorrow!”Lina wondered what it would be like to celebrate Lunar New Year. The next day, Lina was playing outside when her friend Tian ran up to her. “Lina! Would you like to celebrate the Lunar New Year with us tonight? It’s going to be fun, with lots of food and a dragon dance! ”Lina’s eyes lit up. “I’d love to! But I don’t know much about it.” “That’s okay,” Tian said. “I’ll tell you! It’s about family, and showing kindness to others.” That evening, Lina and her parents went to Tian’s house. Red lanterns hung everywhere, and the table was full of delicious food “Red brings good luck,” Tian explained. “That’s why there’s so much red during Lunar New Year!” After dinner, Lina watched the dragon dance. Everyone cheered. At the end of the night, Tian gave Lina a small red envelope. “What’s inside?” Lina asked. “Open it tomorrow,” Tian said. “It’s for good luck!” The next morning, Lina opened the envelope and found a shiny coin inside. She thought about the celebration and how kind Tian had been to invite her. Lina smiled and promised to share kindness in the new year. After dinner, Lina watched the dragon dance. The dragon swayed and spun to the beat of drums, and everyone cheered. "You remembered!" he whispered, his voice choked with happy tears. Mama Cat chuckled. "Of course, we remembered, sleepyhead! We just wanted to make it a really special surprise. We planned this all along!" Papa Cat winked. "We even managed to keep it a secret from your little sister—that was the hardest part!" That night, surrounded by the warmth of his family and friends, Whiskers blew out his candles, making a wish for lots more secret surprises and many more happy birthdays.
